Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Cook to join our dynamic culinary team. As a Commis Cook, you will assist senior kitchen staff in food preparation and maintain high standards of hygiene and efficiency. This is a great opportunity to develop your culinary skills in a supportive and fast-paced environment.

    Core Responsibilities:
    Ingredient Preparation
    • Wash, peel, chop, and dice fruits, vegetables, and meats following precise instructions.
    • Prepare mise en place for breakfast buffet, à la carte service, and group events.
    Assisting Senior Chefs
    • Support Demi Chef, Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, and Head Chef with daily tasks.
    • Follow instructions accurately and maintain strong communication with supervisors.
    Dish Preparation
    • Assist in preparing breakfast items, salads, sauces, and other required dishes.
    • Learn and consistently follow the standards for à la carte preparation.
    Kitchen Hygiene & Organization
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic workstation.
    • Ensure proper food safety, disposal of spoiled items, and cleanliness standards.
    Inventory Management
    • Monitor ingredient levels, assist with receiving deliveries, and report shortages.
    • Help control wastage and ensure proper stock rotation and storage.
    Additional Duties:
    Learning & Development
    • Participate actively in ongoing training.
    • Embrace sustainability and green practices implemented by the hotel.
    • Stay open to learning new skills and culinary techniques.
    Kitchen Rotation & Multitasking
    • Work across various kitchen stations to gain a broad range of experience.
    • Show flexibility and readiness to multitask.
    Team Collaboration
    • Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and timely service.
    Equipment Care & Delivery Assistance
    • Take responsibility for the cleanliness and proper use of kitchen tools.
    • Assist in receiving, organizing, and storing kitchen stock and supplies.
    À la Carte Preparation & Plating
    • Prepare and plate dishes according to established standards.
    • Follow guidance from Demi Chef or Chef de Partie to ensure consistency and quality.

Job Requirements

  • Basic culinary knowledge or relevant culinary education preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work under pressure.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
